2012 State of the Union Address

 

Officers of Tier III, Roster C,

The Office of the Attending Physician (OAP) of the United State Congress, through the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR), Office of Preparedness and Emergency Response, has asked the Office of Force Readiness and Deployment (OFRD) to deploy officers of the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps to provide medical and logistics support during the 2012 State of the Union Address on 24 January 2012 in Washington, DC.

For clinicians, the specific request is for thirty (30) officers (physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and registered nurses) to provide care for Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support incidents at medical stations around the U.S. Capitol, with at least one physician, nurse practitioner and/or physician assistant staffing each station.  Medical Strike Team members are required to attend pre-deployment training at 1300 on 23 January 2012. Clinicians outside of the DC metropolitan area will travel to DC on either Sunday, 23 January 2012 or the morning of Monday, 23 January 2012 and return to your duty stations on Wednesday, 25 January 2012.

An additional five (5) officers were requested to provide logistics support for the Incident Response Coordination Team. The operational period for Logistics Officers is 20-27 January 2012. For Logistics Officers outside of the DC metropolitan area, your travel days are Thursday, 19 January and Saturday, 28 January.

ASPR will cover all travel-related expenses.

You MUST be Basic Qualified and obtain supervisory approval.
